Happy Friday! American friends, how was your 4th?
Chris and I went to his coworker Dan’s BBQ. Dan and his girlfriend Christa made a ton of food and even sent us home with extra homemade barbecue sauce. I also got to meet their new rescue dog Archer who is sooo cute…I want a dog! Chris…if you’re reading this… 🙂
We stayed to watch fireworks on their rooftop and left a little later than we planned. Three minutes into walking home, it started POURING. It was basically like taking a shower, haha. I was wearing these new shoes, but surprisingly they were pretty easy to run in, and they dried without a mark! You’ll definitely be seeing them on the blog soon.
Luckily, I got 2 days off work for the 4th! Yesterday, I spent most of the day doing chores and packing for my trip to Cambridge/Boston. Like I’ve mentioned before, I’m doing graduate school part-time at Harvard. I take most of my classes online, but I still have to fly in for some of them. I’m leaving this morning, and coming back late on Sunday. I probably won’t have a ton of free time, but I’m always on the outlook for recommendations for places to eat/things to see! Let me know if you have a rec!
The last time I went to Boston/Cambridge, I went two weekends back to back (coming home for the work week). During my second trip, I noticed several hours before my flight home that I couldn’t find my check-in email…turns out I never bought a return flight! (I’m convinced that something went wrong at checkout…I remember trying to buy it!) Anyways, I really lucked out that last minute tickets weren’t crazy expensive and I was able to get on a flight for later that day…whew. I had already checked out of my hotel and had work the next day! Hope this trip goes more smoothly!
Back to today’s outfit! I’m wearing this red ruffle maxi dress, which is the perfect length for me. (I’m 5’4″). In this post, I talked about my trick for finding a “maxi dress” that fits shorter/petite women without having to get alterations. But you don’t need it for this dress! Taller gals, this dress will probably fit you more like a midi dress.
Usually, you guys see me wearing one right hand ring (I love rings!), but I’ve been experimenting with more ring stacks lately (why didn’t I catch on earlier? Um…more rings!) Here, I paired a gold colored P initial ring and a super thin milgrain bezel diamond band with a 14kt yellow gold solid circle ring c/o of AUrate New York. I also wore it alone here.
AUrate is a pretty cool company that uses recycled gold, has transparent pricing, and gives back to the community, so you can feel good about wearing their products. The solid circle ring also comes in 14kt and 18kt white and rose gold, and is engraveable – I got mine engraved with my wedding date. Rather than accumulating a ton of costume jewelry, I love the idea of saving for quality jewelry that will last for years! AUrate has a lifetime warranty – I can send my ring back for repairs or repolishing at any point! I think any of their pieces would make a great graduation gift or bridesmaid gift.
Have a great weekend! See you back on Monday!
