Hi Friends! Happy Monday! Last week was rough – the week after a long vacation is hard, lots of playing catch up. I’ve also had a ton of unexpected stuff come up at work, which took up 90% of my schedule, so I had to carve out more time by…not sleeping much. Don’t you hate those weeks? You feel pretty busy already, and then unplanned things happen to make you even busier!
But anyways, I’m hoping this week is going to be much better! It’s certainly going to be warmer, which is ALWAYS good news during the spring in Chicago.
Today, I wanted to share my accidental outfit of the day from Hamilton Island in Australia – this lemon print cut out dress. I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this before, but Chris gets really bad motion sickness. He feels sick on buses, trains, boats, sometimes flights, and cars – if he’s not driving. He’s tried all the typical solutions, like Dramamine and wristbands, but it doesn’t work. It definitely makes it challenging when it comes to traveling! Mostly he just has to tough it out. (If you guys know of cures that work for you, let me know!!!) Anyways, the bummer that is on vacation, we have to avoid boats.
One of the days we were on Hamilton Island, our friends took a half-day Whitsundays “cruise,” while we stayed at the rental house. I did some work in the morning, and then Chris suggested we take a walk to Coral Cove Beach (we had been going to Catseye Beach). I put on this sundress and these sandals for what I expected to be a leisurely stroll. Oops.
Neither of us were expecting it, but we followed signs that led us up a rocky, unpaved ATV trail. I also wore these instead of a bra, and had to walk rather slowly in my sandals as to not fall. We were climbing up and down dirt trails for over an hour with the sun shining down on us – we also only brought one small bottle of water. At least the views were cool!
Finally, we reached the beach – we were the only ones there! So I guess in the end, it was worth it, haha.
(I also had to take a picture with the beginnings of this teepee that someone had built).
We relaxed for a while, and then ultimately hiked back. All in all, it was about 4 miles roundtrip – I think I did pretty well in my dress and sandals! Despite the fact that I don’t recommend them as hiking shoes, these sandals are very comfortable. They’re made with yoga mat memory foam! This lemon print cut out dress is also really cute and has adjustable straps. I’ll be wearing it all summer long for sure!
Have a great Monday! Talk soon!
