Hi Guys, Happy Wednesday! We’ve had a cold front move in the past few days, so I had to put the spring/summer dresses away for a bit.
Today, I wanted to share a casual office wear outfit with you guys. In addition to blogging (and part-time grad school), I work full time at an office. However, I work at an advertising agency, so for the most part, people wear whatever they want. I’ve actually seen someone wear a tutu to work.
Chris’s offices have been even more relaxed. He does wear long pants at his office now, but at his old office, he wore shorts all summer. In fact once, one of his coworkers came in the office in swim trunks and a t-shirt…because he was going to play volleyball afterward. Haha.
Every once in a blue moon, I need to wear business casual. What does business casual mean??? According to Google’s dictionary, business casual is “denoting a style of clothing that is less formal than traditional business wear, but is still intended to give a professional and businesslike impression.”
Honestly, I think it means different things for different offices, but in general, I would not wear this, even though it’s cute. Or this…I think the print might be too loud. However, a solid bold color is totally fine!
This magenta top is great…it comes in 5 other colors, and can be worn so maybe different ways! Wear it with dark jeans, white denim, a pencil skirt, slacks…so many possibilities. It goes great under a blazer, cardigan, or faux leather jacket too. And it’s under $35! It has a looser fit, so size down if you don’t want it to be too baggy. I’m wearing a XS in petite.
Here, I’m also wearing white denim. If your office has Casual Fridays, and you can wear jeans, white denim is a great way to stay within the rules while keeping your look spring-summer appropriate. I am obsessed with these ankle length jeans, available in 5 colors. They’re flattering, and very stretchy and comfortable. They come in regular and petite lengths as well.
Heels are of course a great way to elevate your look. I find that ones with straps are easier to walk in. I think I clench my feet sometimes in order to keep pumps on, and they end up hurting. But flats or block heels work for casual office wear too!
Have a great day! What do you typically wear to your office?
