How to Wear Gingham This Season

Happy Wednesday Friends! How’s your week going? Mine’s been alright, but I haven’t been getting a ton of sleep. I keep accidentally staying up late reading articles. I need to put my phone away at night far from my nightstand so I can’t reach for it.

I’ve been getting into grilling this week. We have a George Foreman grill that’s kind of on it’s last legs. I’m planning on ditching it before we move this fall, but I thought I’d use it a few more times. On Monday, I grilled thin cut chicken breasts and zucchini (and topped it with Lillie’s Q BBQ sauce). Yesterday, I read about Meghan Markle’s informal fish tacos recipe (I guess now HRH The Duchess of Sussex) from Today.com so I made a version of that using grilled cod, red bell pepper, onions, avocado, and lime!

How to Wear Gingham This Season

Anyways, back to fashion! Today, I wanted to talk to you guys about gingham, and how to wear gingham this season. It’s EVERYWHERE! Dresses, jumpers, rompers, shorts, skirts, shoes, bags, swimsuits, you name it! I think it’s because gingham screams spring/summer (I always think about childhood picnic blankets) and is so easy to incorporate into your existing wardrobe.

Spring and Summer Whites

How so? Gingham pairs SO WELL with white, so wear it with all your white denim! Jeans, skirts, jackets, whatever! Now that Memorial Day is over, it’s time to wear all the white you can! (Although I never actually listen to that “rule” anyways). Here, I’m wearing an off the shoulder blue gingham romper (only $35!), styled with white espadrilles and a quilted white crossbody.

Denim

I usually stick to darker denim, but spring/summer is the time to break out your light blue denim. Try a pink or yellow gingham top with denim shorts.

Solids

There’s a lot of black and white gingham out right now – this one is easy. Style your gingham jacket, skirt, or shoes (yes, gingham shoes are the cutest!) with the solid colors in your closet and it’ll work! See how I paired a red gingham maxi skirt here.
