Happy Hump Day! How’s your day going?
Today, I wanted to talk about another fun topic – how often do you swear? And in what situations? Do you try to stop in front of certain people?
I don’t really swear all that much! And if I do, it’s usually at work! Haha
Thinking back, my high school was kind of strict about it (even though most kids did it anyways). I remember my high school Spanish teacher scolding me because she heard me say that I was “pissed” about something. So I guess I never really got into the habit.
In college, my close friend group didn’t really swear much either. My friend Christina and I only ever did it as a joke. I definitely think you pick up other people’s habits.
When I met Chris, I thought he swore a lot! But over the years he stopped. Unless he’s driving, haha. So maybe my habit rubbed off on him? 😀 Now he thinks I swear more than he does.
I think I’m more likely to do it if I’ve been drinking wine. I also used to try to be really careful around my younger sister (by almost 10 years) but once she started college, I was like, whatever.
But anyways, it’s interesting, but I actually make an attempt to swear more at WORK because my coworkers and managers do it so much. Not necessarily because they’re mad, but to make a point. (“The weather is f-ing amazing today!”) I feel weird saying things like “darn” or “shoot” when everyone is using the stronger alternative. But it’s been pointed out to me that I seem to hesitate before dropping a F-bomb. I can’t help it! Haha.
What about you? Do you swear? Are you ever surprised by who has a potty-mouth and who doesn’t?
