Happy Monday Y’all! How was your weekend? If you’re on the east coast, stay safe this week!
On Saturday, Chris and I went for a walk through of our new condo, the one we’re not moving into anymore. Check out my permanent Instastories under “home” for some pictures and video! And read more about it here.
Since the weather was so nice (my ideal 65 degrees!) we also headed to Evanston, IL where Northwestern University’s campus is. I hadn’t been for a couple years and wanted to see how it’s changed before all the students were back for fall quarter. Northwestern is on the quarter system, so school doesn’t start back up until late September.
Chris and took the Metra to downtown Evanston…as far as changes, there’s now a Target. Those kids are so spoiled, haha. We hit up Bennison’s Bakery for crumb cake and a brownie, and then walked through campus over to the lake. One of the my goals before summer ended was to spend some time by the water. Which we got to do, all while avoiding city congestion! (looking at you, Montrose Beach, and Ohio Street Beach).
We went to the library (to use the restroom, not to study), and the front desk asked if we were prospective students. Maybe they meant graduate students? I graduated from undergrad EIGHT years ago! And Chris graduated with his master’s degree eight years ago. We ultimately went to Mt. Everest, an Indian restaurant in Evanston, for dinner, where again, we were asked if we were students. I’m just going to assume that they thought we looked young. It’s crazy because almost exactly twelve years ago, I moved to Evanston from Atlanta to start freshman year! Time goes by so fast.
We also walked by “The Rock.” It’s literally a giant rock that students paint to promote campus events and activities. The catch is that you have to guard it for 24 hours before you get to paint it.
What we didn’t do – go to Buffalo Joe’s. When I told my college friends who live out of state that we were going to campus, they all asked me “are you going to Buff Joes??!!” It’s just a wings, chicken sandwich, and burger place that we always went to. My go-to order: a buffalo chicken sandwich…spice level – “suicide.” And waffle fries covered in cheese.
Anyways, we decided to be healthy and skip it, not to mention that Chris doesn’t really get the appeal of the place. He’s been a couple of times, and says the food is just so-so, not to mention, artery-blocking. He doesn’t get it. Just like Ben Wyatt doesn’t get the appeal of Lil’ Sebastian (yes, we’re still watching Parks and Rec).
Maybe next time we’re back.
Miss ya NU! Go ‘Cats!
