Happy Friday Y’all!
I think this is going to be the last hot weekend we get in Chicago until next summer. Chris and I want to spend time outdoors, so we’re going for a hike. I’m thinking the Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve since it’s only 30ish minutes away, but if you have any other suggestions, let me know!
Since it’s cooling down, I’ve been trying to figure out how to make some of my summer dresses work for fall. The obvious way is to throw a sweater on top…but what about layering underneath? Have you considered that?
I’m loving this pinafore style midi dress. It has a ruffle around the mid-section area so you can indulge in that extra piece of pumpkin flavored dessert. And course, my favorite thing about midi dresses is that they work for women of all heights!
Because it’s not THAT cool yet, I layered a black tank top under this dress. But a simple tee, would work as well…or a thin long sleeved sweater, or even turtleneck. I love how Jess Keys from The Golden Girl styled the below sleeveless dress to make it work for fall (or even winter!)
But also, if I didn’t layer anything under my pinafore dress, it would look like this. Not exactly work appropriate. But since I did layer, I wore this dress to work. And I immediately got two compliments within the first 5 minutes of getting in to the office!
For even more warmth, throw a denim jacket or faux leather jacket over the whole thing!
How do you make your summer dresses work for fall?
