Hi Friends! How are you today?
Front Tie Wrap Romper
Today, I wanted to share some photos of this front tie wrap romper that I wore when I was in Phoenix, Arizona over Memorial Day Weekend. On Memorial Day, the day after our friend Maya’s wedding at the Royal Palms Resort and Spa, we decided to explore the city.
What We Did In Phoenix, Arizona
Downtown Phoenix was pretty dead. Perhaps it was due to the holiday, or maybe we were in the wrong area of town, but the streets were very empty and most of the bars were closed. But we lucked out and found a rooftop bar (with a pool!) called Lustre.
There was plenty of opening seating, and Chris, 3 of our friends, and I had our choice of comfy couches. Too bad we didn’t bring our swimsuits! But this romper was the perfect choice for lounging and enjoying rosé and cocktails. I paired the romper with Tory Burch flip flops and my Neverfull tote.
Unfortunately, the lighting was not good for blog pictures, but I did get an Instastory. I’ve since re-worn the romper since I’ve been back (these pictures are from Chicago). Here, I paired it with my wedges and Burberry tote.
After the rooftop bar, we went to Happy Hour at Blue Hound Kitchen & Cocktails. The grilled shishito peppers were SO good! As was the $5 glasses of wine and the bottomless popcorn. After making it through a couple of pans of the seasoned kernels, the waiter just brought us a giant bucket, with a wink. Haha. We managed hit the bottom of that by the time Happy Hour was over at 6pm.
A Reflection
I’ve been doing some thinking lately, and I want to start sharing more about myself on this blog. It is called TiaPerciballi.com after all, it’s about me.
I’m an avid blog reader, and when I think about it, it’s the personal stuff that I like to read. About people’s days, their thoughts, their successes and struggles. Sometimes, I relate to others’ stories, and sometimes I don’t, but it gives me something to think about and reflect on. Maybe it causes me to feel inspired and take action. One of the blogs I read is The Golden Girl by Jess Keys. Last year, I took a photography workshop class that she and Blair of The Fox and She held on behalf of their Blogging For Keeps venture to empower new bloggers. They are both the NICEST by the way.
Anyways, in one of Jess’s Instastories, she talked about her struggle with breakouts, even showing viewers the blemishes she had on the sides of her face and revealing that she feels self-conscious about it. I hope I can learn to be that brave! She instructed her followers to understand that Instagram is just a tailored version of people’s lives (makeup and filters!) and to not compare yourselves to what you see on social media.
I feel like this is especially important to think about in light of this week’s events. Earlier this week, the fashion world was stunned at the sudden passing of Kate Spade. And this morning, we heard about Anthony Bourdain. Experts in their respective fields, widely successful, wealthy, beloved…as a mere viewer/audience member, with only the smallest glimpse into their publicized lives, it’s hard to understand why. I guess it’s hard to know what others are struggling with.
I think often bloggers give off the image that their lives are perfect. Or just a one-dimensional view (for example, me…with my outfit pictures and travel plans). But I think sometimes there’s a fine line between being authentic and oversharing. How do you be authentic and avoid an invasion of privacy? I’d like to give it a shot, to make it more of a priority to write about more aspects of my life, good and bad, if you guys would like to read about it.
Thanks for listening! Have a great weekend!
