Hi Friends! Happy Early St. Patrick’s Day! It’s crazy that it actually falls on a Saturday this year!
For those of you who are not in Chicago, St. Patrick’s Day is a huge deal here. We dye the river green.
Admittedly, every year, I probably take St. Patrick’s Day less and less seriously. I guess it doesn’t help that it’s going to be really cold this year (do you see the snow in my photos??) The last time we had a warm St. Patty’s was 2012. I remember because it’s really that rare. I believe I wore a green shirt, green shorts, and a green scarf that I tied in my hair because I thought it looked cool, haha.
The years of Wrigleyville are behind me. Last year, my sister was in town visiting. She gave me a green mani, and we went out for brunch, but missed the river dyeing after sleeping in too late. I honestly don’t remember what we did in 2016, but in 2015, Chris and I had an appointment with a realtor (didn’t end up getting the place) and then went to the end of a house party. We have no plans so far for this year! I’m getting lunch with my coworkers on Friday, and then we’re going home early. That sounds pretty good to this old lady. Haha.
However, it doesn’t mean I’m not going to dress for the holiday! This year, given the 20-30 degree weather (and snow) we’ve been getting, I’m wearing this St. Patrick’s Day outfit – a pale green bomber jacket, jeans, and booties. The jacket is very light weight, so I wouldn’t really wear it as a true jacket, but more of a cardigan or sweater. This shade of green is very pretty and flattering on most skin tones, but if you aren’t into green, this jacket also comes in a lovely blush and classic black.
This jacket would also look great paired with white jeans (especially distressed) or over a dress! For more St. Patrick’s Day outfit inspiration, check out my Pinterest board.
What are your St. Patrick’s Day plans this year?
