Hi Friends, how was your weekend? Were you shopping the Nordstrom Sale? I’m making some updates to my last post, so check it out!
We had a really nice weekend over here (for the most part). Friday evening, I actually met Chris at the gym! Then, we met up with friends and their dog at the park for a bit before eating a late dinner and watching TV. On Saturday, we went to see the new Antman movie, which was really funny, and then met friends for dinner at Rangoli, a BYOB Indian restaurant. We hadn’t seen them since the Super Bowl, and they had exciting news to share – they’re expecting!
But I felt there was a storm cloud looming over my otherwise fun weekend – this nagging feeling I couldn’t shake. Late Thursday night, I noticed one of my diamond bands was missing from its regular spot. And after searching for hours and hours, I still can’t find it.
Have you ever lost something important?
Luckily, it’s not my engagement ring or wedding band. But it is the ring that I wore on my right hand during my wedding. My grandmother wasn’t able to travel for our wedding due to her health, but she sent me money for wedding jewelry. (She ended up passing away 2 months before the big day). When I was a little girl, she used to help me make play jewelry – specifically, two rings made out of bead pearls and shiny ribbon. To honor that memory, I chose to use the money she sent me towards 2 right hand bands.
I’m kicking myself now, but I only insured one of the two…and guess which one went missing?
I feel like I’ve searched everywhere – the rest of Thursday night, Friday night, much of the day on Saturday and Sunday. (Instead of doing things I actually needed to be doing). But I’m still hoping it’ll turn up, maybe when we move? Per my memory, Instatories, and other photographic evidence from blogging, the last time I was wearing it was at home.
I’m a little nervous because an emergency plumber came over when I was in Cambridge, and was left unattended for a while, close to my ring dish. Or did I accidentally throw it away??? One time, my dad accidentally threw my engagement ring in the garbage. I had taken it off and put it on the counter to put on lotion for 30 seconds, and he went to wipe the counters. Luckily, he had taken out the trash beforehand. There were only a few pieces of paper towels at the bottom of the trash can, and my ring was balled up in one of them. That was close!
I’m hoping I stop feeling so terrible about it soon. I have to remember it’s just a piece of jewelry (albeit, sentimental). Have you ever lost something important? What was it and how did you deal with it?
