Happy first day of AUGUST! How is that possible? Growing up in the suburbs of Atlanta, we’d be starting school next Monday. So to me, August feels like….Fall. Sorry, sorry, I know that word sounds…profane…to some of you guys, but I’m actually a little excited for this fall. Or really just to move. I’m really hoping we’re moving this fall.
But that doesn’t mean I’m not making the most of the rest of summer. Here are some things I’m excited for this August.
The end of class
My group and I just finished our final project for class! So all I have left is to study for my final exam which is next Tuesday. And then I’m free for the rest of summer! School doesn’t start back up until September, and I’m considering possibly taking a break this fall since I’m going to be so busy. Still trying to decide.
Chris’s birthday
Chris isn’t really into birthdays, but I am! I like to go all out and surprise him with a trip to Miami and front row tickets to a NFL game (or both!). While I don’t have anything quite that big up my sleeve this year, I’m still excited!
Wearing all the dresses
I love summer because I love to wear dresses, like this one, from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (which ends on August 5). I’d recommend sizing down for this dress. I didn’t, and it fits pretty loose. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing when it’s super hot outside. I can also wear this dress (available in 6 colors!) with leggings, boots, and a jacket/cardigan in the fall.
Lake Michigan
I haven’t made it to the lakefront yet this summer! Why??? I’m hoping for a beach day or at least a long and leisurely stroll around the lake, and maybe a picnic, once my exam is over.
Outdoor seating/rooftop patios
There are so many new restaurants and bars! I’m hoping to check out a few more with my girlfriends, including Aba in Fulton Market and Beatnik On the River (we tried once after work and it was SO crowded).
Northwestern Campus
I haven’t been back to campus for years. I hear there’s been a lot of changes! I’d like to go back for a visit before it gets too crowded with students who are back from summer break.
Maybe a visit from my sister
Lily might come later this month for a long weekend, after her summer internship ends, and before school starts. I haven’t seen her since January, before she left for Italy for study abroad.
What are your plans for the rest of summer? Are you looking forward to, or dreading the start of fall?
