Hi Friends!
Ugh…sorry I was MIA last week. Unfortunately, I had yet another bout of mastitis. WHY?? This time was especially awful – I had terrible chills (my teeth were chattering) and a fever of 104. And my clogged duct area (aka my boob) hurt SO bad. I almost think I was in more pain than I was in than when I was in labor! On top of that, Reid decided to get really fussy and refuse to be set down. Not a good combo to be sick and have a fussy baby.
Luckily, I felt better by the weekend, but Chris and I tried to take it easy. We just hung around the house on Saturday, and fit in a couple naps. It was the 70s on Sunday, so we ventured outside to the park. If you watched my Instagram Stories, you saw that we used our baby carrier for the first time – Chris was like “baby wearing is game changing! We can go out and do stuff now!” I agree! It’s much easier that maneuvering the stroller around in the city.
Anyways, since it was so warm, I was able to wear a dress. Specifically, this dress I’m wearing all spring and summer…and probably the rest of the year. This wrap dress made of organic cotton, from Indigenous, a fair trade fashion company. I love how it’s so versatile, and can easily be dressed up or down. And it’s so easy to nurse in this dress by either pulling the neckline sides apart, or doing a quick unwrap.
I love wearing dresses, but some of my favorites with zippers in the back will be too challenging to undo for constant feedings, especially if we’re out and about. Wrap dresses for the win – in the fall/winter, you can always pair them with leggings, boots and a cardigan or faux leather jacket. Oh, and a quick tip – if you find wrap dresses to be too low cut, just wear a tank top of the same color underneath!
In other news, I have my 6 week postpartum glucose test coming up later this week…I’m nervous that I’ll fail and be diagnosed as pre-diabetic or with type 2 diabetes. (For some people, gestational diabetes doesn’t go away). Wish me luck!
