Happy Friday!
I’m excited for this weekend! Are you dressing up for Halloween?
I’m not dressed up for my office’s halloween party this year (last year, 2 of my coworkers and I were the “pregnant Kardashians,” Kim, Khloe, and Kylie. I was Kim, and carried around a giant check made out to the surrogate. We won $200!
But we’re still going to Chris’s boss’s halloween party at his house – he always caters, and hires a full waitstaff and bartenders. It’s schmancy!
We bounced around a bunch of ideas this year. I thought about dressing up in a Wonderwoman costume, and attaching a neon green triangle to my stomach. Rather than being Wonderwoman, I would be Gal Gadot (the actress), who was 5 months pregnant when she shot parts of the movie. They had to CGI her belly out, and that’s what they did, attach the green stuff to her baby bump during filming. However, after asking some friends, the consensus was that no one would get it. I also thought we could be Laurel/Yanny, but wasn’t sure what to do for our costumes.
So we decided on a Instagram themed costume – Chris and I are going to be the same person. He’s going to be the pre-filter version, and I’ll be the post-filter version. Haha! I got a long black wig for Chris, and a floral/leafy wreath for myself. I’ll post some Instastories tomorrow!
Tomorrow, I’m also going to a prenatal yoga session + tea. Like I said earlier, I didn’t really exercise my first trimester due to feeling sick, so I’m getting back into the swing of things now. I’m hoping to chat with some other Chicago West Loop moms-to-be!
Speaking of yoga, I recently discovered this brand (not sponsored) of yoga-inspired clothing. This yoga-inspired, sparkly sweater (here) is super comfy – you can throw if over your yoga tank after class and meet up with friends for drinks. Or you can wear it with regular clothes of course! I love chunky sweaters, but I wanted to pick up a few that are more fitted, and could go under a faux leather jacket or blazer. This XS fits the bill for me, but if you want a looser fit, definitely size up.
I’m also wearing my…7th??? pair of Blondo Waterproof boots (also not sponsored!) I just love weatherproofed boots. I got these at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale over the summer, and they’re very easy to walk in, despite the heel. And I’m terrible with heels. It looks like this exact pair is currently out of stock, but here’s the link to others available.
I’m also still in my regular jeans – I really like this brand for relatively affordable, well-fitting denim. But they’re starting to get tight! I might need to try one of those belly band things soon.
Happy Halloween weekend!
