Hi Friends!
It’s Wednesday already! I finally convinced Chris to take a day off work, (he’s taken 2 vacation days all year) so we had a 4 day weekend over here, which was amazing. We took lots of walks, caught up on sleep a little, met up with friends, and even watched some TV! Yesterday, we took Reid to the Shedd Aquarium for their free admission day. It was cute watching him stare at all the fish, although he appeared more interested in people watching than the aquatic life. So maybe we should just take him to the mall, haha. Illinois residents, see here for a list of free admission days. (They didn’t actually check our IDs).
It’s crazy that summer is almost over! The past 5 months have been such a whirlwind, that I feel like I blinked, and now it’s September. I must say, I have been getting tired of the really hot and muggy days (I’m going to be sorry I felt this way in January), so I guess I am almost ready to say adieu to summer. Even though I’m not ready for anything pumpkin spice flavored QUITE yet.
Over the weekend, it was a bit chilly at one point, so I put on jeans. And then it got hot again, making me regret my decision. My friend Kara said over lunch – “I thought about wearing pants as well, but I’m going to be wearing pants for at least 3/4 of the year, so I’m going to wear dresses for as long as I can.” And that’s a GREAT point, especially for us Chicagoans.
This mustard yellow floral printed dress is great for the transition to fall. The colors hint that autumn is well on it’s way, but the lack of sleeves suggest that we should enjoy the warmth while we still can. (Although I’ve topped this dress with a denim jacket in the evening). I also love this fall – appropriate, teal jumpsuit that I wore during our family staycation. Both options would be cute with booties and a leather/faux leather jacket or cozy cardigan as well!
I’m already looking forward to next weekend! Football is back, and we’re going apple picking with friends!
Have a great rest of the week!
