Hi Friends! Happy Thanksgiving Week! Are you excited?
To be completely honest, Thanksgiving has never been my favorite. When I was in school, I’d always have a bunch of stuff due the Monday after, so I was always stressing about how to get everything done while flying/traveling/and trying to enjoy the holiday. During college, I actually stayed at school for 2 out of 4 Thanksgivings in order to get work done! My family also frequently gets into arguments/tiffs during Thanksgiving. So the Thanksgiving before my wedding, I stayed in Chicago, while my sister came from New York to visit me. This year, my parents are coming to visit Chicago, and we’ll be doing non-Thanksgiving food. (I’m really not feeling the idea of turkey right now…I’m mostly over my chicken aversion, but neither that or turkey sounds particularly good). What are your plans?
Today, I wanted to share my guide for under $50: jewelry for holiday parties, weddings, or gifts. If you’ve been following me on Instagram or the blog for a while, you know I don’t own a ton of statement jewelry, and prefer fewer fine jewelry pieces (or pieces that look like fine jewelry!) that I can wear over and over again.
During the holidays, it’s especially fun to break out some flashier, sparkly pieces that’ll make you stand out from across the room. And it doesn’t have to be expensive. You also can definitely re-wear these items throughout the year (the holidays are just an excuse to go shopping!)
This is NOT sponsored, but one of my favorite places to get inexpensive jewelry is Amazon! They have what they call “The Amazon Collection” – these items are made of sterling silver, and then plated with platinum or yellow or rose gold. I’ve owned some of these items for YEARS and they still look great. No tarnishing, fading, or turning your skin green. Nordstrom also has great jewelry under $50.
Some of my favorites are pictured above! All of these would make great holiday gifts for your girlfriends!
Stud earrings – Amazon and Nordstrom both carry great quality and realistic looking cubic zirconia stud earrings. I wear mine daily, and get compliments on my “diamond earrings.”
Vintage drop earrings – These are my go-to earrings for out-of-town weddings when I don’t want to travel with expensive earrings.
Sparkly eternity band – This ring has hundreds of 5 star ratings…it’s bold and adds a ton of sparkle to a holiday outfit. I’ve worn this in the pool and hot tub and it looks as new as ever.
X ring – Similar rings (in gold/platinum and diamonds) run for thousands of dollars! This one looks really good and is only $30 (also available in silver and rose gold). It’d be a cute to matching ones for your friends or bridesmaids!
Pear levelback earrings – I’ve also worn these to events where I wanted to look dressed up, but didn’t want to risk my wedding earrings. I can’t seem to find these exact ones on Amazon anymore, but Nordstrom has these pear shaped drop earrings with great reviews, and Amazon still carries these in round and square cuts.
Gold crawler earrings – These are the ones I’m wearing in my first photo in this blog post. They’re super fun! I like wearing these with a black turtleneck or casual sweater, and it instantly elevates my outfit. These would be a great choice for a holiday party.
Check out my post on how to clean jewelry here! If you keep clean your CZ jewelry regularly, they’ll stay pretty and sparkly – they don’t have to get cloudy, contrary to popular belief.
